First of all this new browser has brought an almost iphone-like level of hype, with every status message and tweet talking about it. I wasnt so moved and just wanted to use it first before I start making any noise. So now that I’ve used it for a few days…it actually does use much less memory than Firefox which I’m currently using. When I have 5 tabs open to the same pages in both browsers, Firefox still uses 4x more memory. Chrome hasn’t crashed on me yet (I’d be mad if it did) but we all know the so-called stable Firefox also crashes. Now don’t get me wrong every browser will crash if you try to keep 50 tabs open, especially if any of the pages has any crazy script running on it, but it seems Chrome might be hope for tab horders. Some pple (like me) just dont wanna close those tabs till later when they can get back to them…lol.
I don’t know happy Mozilla will be about chrome though, as they’ve had a long lasting partnership with Google, even though their CEO says it wont hurt their friendship. Maybe we will be seeing a merger in the near future…or NOT. The Google machine only merges/collabos when they have the lesser product or no product at all.
What I cant wait for is most of the Mozilla plugins to start releasing Chrome versions. Also I need to take a look at the API and see what I can do on it.
